Peace, Love, and Rockets is a LAN Party located in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex right in the heart of Texas. We host 5 LAN Events a year and take over our own section of the BYOC every year at QuakeCon. We welcome everyone to our LAN's and play games from all genres including FPS, RTS, and MMO.
PLR was born out of the monthly LAN Parties thrown by local gaming clan Nicht Anwenderfreundlich (N|A). The event, which started out as a hangout and game session for local clan members, began to attract more and more gamers, and non-N|A members began to outnumber the clan members. After the close of The Source Gaming Center which previously hosted the N|A LAN Parties, the staff of N|A decided to form an all new LAN event for the DFW area to continue the atmosphere and community that had grown during the past 4 years. Along with the help of several members of both N|A and the general DFW gaming community, PLR was born in January of 2007 with it's first event held in Ennis Texas.
The Peace, Love, and Rockets name was originally developed in 2006 during the planning stages of a "backup quakecon" when the community feared that an i.d. software sponsored event was not going to be taking place. QuakeCon is described as "4 Days of Peace, Love, and Rockets", so it only seemed fitting to name our event after the true spirit of the 'Con. Needless to say, i.d. came trough and gave us yet another awesome event, so the PLR project was scrapped, and the staff agreed the name would go to the clan that helped get the website for the event running. PLR stayed dormant until the close of The Source Gaming Center, when the event took on a whole new form.
PLR is all about fun, games and hanging out with buddies.....while trying to put a rocket in their face. ;)
